Positive Consequences/ Rewards
For a reward system, I will use classdojo.com. Through this system, students can be given dojos, or points, that can then be cashed in for rewards such as eating lunch with the teacher or teaching their own lesson. In this system, students can be positively reinforced for following classroom expectations. I can use dojo points to motivate students to follow expectations as well as complete bonus assignments. Negative Consequences As for negative consequences, my first step in dealing with behavior issues will be redirection. When a student is breaking a rule or not following my expectations, I will give the students an appropriate behavior or activity to replace the unwanted behavior. I will also refer back to my expectations and class rules when speaking with a student. If redirection and reminding about expectations don't work, I will then remove the student from the situation and ask them to fill out a reflection sheet similar to the one on the left. Through this reflection, students will learn to monitor their own behavior and to evaluate how their actions affect their learning and the learning of their peers. Citation: "Think Sheet".
