This portfolio serves as a culmination of what I have learned in EDU 342: Managing the Classroom Environment. In this class, I have learned about fundamental theories of managing the classroom, along with different strategies and tools to do so.
The purpose of this portfolio is to explore ideas and strategies that can be used to manage the classroom environment, while also presenting my personal management style. Throughout this website I will present my personal management philosophy and plans for my future classroom.
In the first chapter, I will compare different management theories along with present my personal code of ethics and philosophy, also including the essential decisions I will make each day as a teacher. The second chapter will use that philosophy to focus on my specific plans for managing, including classroom layout, procedures, and different tools for managing my future classroom.
For the purpose of this website, I will focus on a specific set of demographics so that each component has context.
Demographics:
- 4th grade classroom
- 25 students (15 male, 10 female)
- 5 students on behavioral management plans, 3 on academic intervention plans- one full-time aide
- Bozeman school district
- Suburban area, mostly middle-class families, heavy involvement by parents
- Access to MacBooks, iPads, and in-class TV with video capability
Each component of this portfolio will be set in the context of these demographics, and affected accordingly.
